The Féile Péil B came to a conclusion on last in Templetuohy with the staging of the semi-final and final. The action commenced @ 10.30 with West champions Cashel King Cormacs up against the North combination champions Ballinahinch/Templederry. The Cashel goalkeeper Ross Minogue was very busy in the opening minutes saving two penalties which was to keep them in the driving seat as they finished at the interval ahead on a 0-04 to 0-01 score reading. However in the second period of the contest the north side upped their performance crashing the Cashel net on two occasions coupled with five points to advance to the final on a concluding score Ballinahinch/Templederry 2-06 Cashel King Cormacs 0-04. In the other semi final south champions Grangemockler Ballyneale took on mid champions Holycross Ballycahill. During a one sided contest the south boys notched up four unanswered points. Holycross were unlucky not to grab a goal in the closing minutes of the first half. In the second period the Grangemockler boys continued being more dominant getting the only goal of the contest and while conceding two points gained their spot in the final on a concluding score Grangemockler Ballyneale 1-05 Holycross Ballycahill 0-02. The final commenced @ 11.45am with Grangemockler enjoying the assistance of the rather stiff prevailing breeze, but it was the north side of Ballinahinch Templederry that recorded the opening score with a cracking goal .This great start was to prove to be the only addition on the score board for the north boys during the first half. Grangemockler were much more fruitful in their attack yielding a tally of 1-04 by the break. The second half of the contest was a much improved version with some good individual performances. However the south boys always to be more threatening once they entered the north defence area. They notched up three points after ten minutes and thwarted off some certain goal opportunities with their very committed defence line. The north boys added two points to narrow their deficit to four points on a score of 1-06 to 1-02. However the south defence eventually leaked a late goal but still had enough on the score board to win the title with a two point margin .Grangemockler Ballyneale 1-07 Ballinahinch/Templederry 2-02. County chairman thanked the referees Tom Loughnane and Jonathan Cullen, their officials and also the four participating clubs. He acknowledged all involved in the Moyne Templetuohy club for hosting the games. He concluded by wishing the victors every success at the national finals which are being hosted in Kerry. He then presented the trophy to Grangemockler Ballyneale victorious captain Ben Commerford. |
