Ballinahinch 1-12 Sean Treacy's 0-18 in Dolla on Saturday 25th May. Report Nenagh Guardian. Sean Treacy's took on Ballinahinch in a rare local derby in the second round of Group 4 of the County Intermediate Hurling Championship on Saturday evening in Dolla with the Kilcommon side emerging three point winners. This was a game where a win was important as neither side had recorded first round wins. Short a number of regulars, Treacy's were slow to settle and Ballinahinch took the initiative with a point from Shane McGrath. A long delivery from John Foley to the edge of the square was fielded and finished to the net by county minor David Gleeson. Treacy's quickly settled however and were winning possession in midfield and pressurising the opposition defenders into frees which were converted by Patrick Carey. With Carey in excellent form from placed balls Treacy's battled back and reduced the gap tp the minimum approaching half time but Ballinahinch surged clear as excellent long range points from Kevin Mulcahy rounded off the first half scoring. The score at half time was 1-09 to 0-09 in favour of the North men. Ballinahinch started the second half the stronger also but crucially were unable to convert their possession into scores. Matt Feehan and Patrick Deegan were now becoming dominant in midfield and supplying quality ball and the men from the West quickly rattled over some quality scores from play and frees. Sean Treacy's held a three point lead entering the final five minutes but were now fighting a rear guard action. Ballinahinch went for goal from a 20metre free but the effort was blocked and the dangewr cleared. Treacy's saw out the remaining few minutes and were ahead when the final whistle sounded.
