Juvenile membership: Membership forms will be distributed through the school and managers during the next number of weeks. All membership must be paid by March 31. Gum shields: From January 1st, all players under 18 years of age must wear gum shields for football matches. This is now a rule of our games. Juvenile teams in 2013: We will have our own U12 team this year and we will be joining with Newport in U14 and U16. Our thanks to Newport for accommodating our players. Players meeting: Will be held on Friday January 18. Text will be send out. Best wishes: To Tommy and Brenda Kelly on the birth of their new baby girl. Best of luck to Tommy who is transferring from our club. Tommy has been a great servant to the club both on and off the field and it was a fitting reward to the very popular player that he captained our junior C's in his last match to our first Junior C hurling title. Also best wishes to Alan Kelly who is transferring from the club also, he consistently performed at a high level in both hurling and football for the club and made big sacrifices to remain playing with the club for the past few years. Alan represented our club at county level playing for Tipperary at intermediate level. We are disappointed to lose both players from a strong GAA supporting family in the parish and wish them well in their new clubs. Affiliations: For 2013 we are affiliated in the following grades - Hurling: Intermediate, Junior 'B', U21 'B', Minor 'B' (as Newport Gaels) and in Football: Junior 'A', U21 'B', Minor 'A' (as Newport Gaels). Lotto: There was no winner of last week's (30th Dec) lotto jackpot of €1,850. The numbers drawn were 13, 19, 21 and 26. Sympathies: The club wishes to extend our sympathies to the O'Brien family (Killeen) on the death of Anastasia. May she rest in peace. Taekwondo : Congratulations to Cathal Cooney on his great achievement in receiving his black-belt in taekwondo recently. Cathal has been moving up the ranks in taekwondo over the last few years & has very quickly achieved his black-belt at such a young age. He also won a National title recently. Congratulations to Cathal. Handball : Congratulations to Nathan Lenihan who won another North-Tipp. 40x20 U-10 Doubles title, with his partner, Stephen Coffey, last weekend. Nathan & Stephen will now represent North Tipperary in the County final next week. Best of luck to Nathan & Stephen in the County final.
