PRO notes 5th Sept 2011

All Ireland: Hard luck to Shane McGrath and the Tipperary team last Sunday. They had put in a huge effort this year to retain the Liam McCarthy but lost out at the final hurdle.

Under 11: Our U-11's gave a fine display of hurling against Newport last Thursday evening. The lead switched between both teams many times throughout the match but Newport's strength helped them pull away in the final ten minutes of the match when they scored a brace of goals to seal victory. Well done to everyone who played so well. It was a close & hard fought game throughout.

Minor: Burgess edged out Newport Gaels in the North 'B' hurling semi-final last Friday night on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-18. Hard luck to all involved with this team.

Junior: We played Kilruane last week in the second round of the championship. Needing a win to stay in contention for the semi-final, we started well and were winning 0-6 to 0-3 at halftime. Kilruane came back strongly and in a tightly contested second half we held out to win 0-10 to 0-9. We now play Silvermines in the final group game.

Intermediate: The Intermediate North semi-final against Silvermines is due to be played on Saturday 17th Sept. Training continues this week, and all players are asked to attend.

Lotto: There was no winner of last weeks (29th Aug) jackpot of EUR5,400. The numbers drawn were 13, 21, 27, 30. The club is looking for volunteers to sell lotto tickets in the local pubs at the weekends. The more sellers we get the less work load for everybody. Please contact T.J. Mcloughlin 086-3429789 asap thank you.
