Athletics: Congratulations once again to all our local talented athletes who competed in the Munster Indoor Finals recently. Once again Patrick Lynch was outstanding, winning double gold (60m & 200m). Tom & Emma Hennessy also had fantastic achievements. Tom won silver in the High Jump, while Emma was part of the relay team which won gold. There were many other athletes who had fantastic performances & well done to everyone, but Conor Lynch's performances in U-16 60m & 200m were outstanding. His older brother & sister, Patrick & Eimear, are well used to the limelight at this stage, with many accolades to their credit, but Conor has made a huge leap forward this year & is improving in each competition. Well done Conor on reaching the 60m final & on a great run in the 200m. This was a personal best achievement for Conor & any day you can achieve that, is a great day's work. Keep it up Conor. Good luck to Eimear in her upcoming competition. Fundraiser Cards Night: The juvenile Club will hold our annual cards night in Ballinahinch Hall on Thurs. 24th. March next. Please support in whatever way you can. Tickets are 5 euro & can be purchased from any club committee member. Thank you for your support as always. Well Done: to Philip Kelly on a good double this weekend. Philip has steered the Silvermines camogie ladies into the final, after a one point win over Toome' at the weekend. Good luck in the final Philip. Philip's Intermediate's (Ballinahinch) also had a good win over local rivals, Newport, in the first round of the league. U21 Football: We played Ballyneale/Grangemockler last Saturday in Cashel, winning on a score-line of 4-05 to 3-05. It was a good test for the team in their first game of the year, and we can build on this performance for the next game. Well done to the team who have now qualified for the County semi-final. Intermediate Hurling: Our Intermediate hurlers got their season under way with a 0-18 to 0-12 victory over Newport last Sunday in Newport. After a scrappy first half it was level eight pioints each at half time with bothteams showing early season rustiness. The second half remained tight but we pushed on in the final quarter to run out winners. Ger Griffin and Liam Berkery were our main scoring threats and a solid display by the defence aided in the victory. We now play Ballina in the Fr. Minihan final next weekend. Check fixtures for details. Colleges: Congratulations to Ger Grace who was part of the successful UL team that defeated LIT in the Fitzgibbon Cup Final last Saturday. Club Lotto: There was no winner of last weeks (21st Feb) lotto jackpot of EUR2,000. The numbers drawn were 4, 8, 12, 30. Full details of draw are available on club website. |
