PRO Notes 25th August 2014

posted 26 Aug 2014, 13:21 by Sluder Bullins

Intermediate: Last Saturday the hurler’s reached the North final for the first time since 1977, with a one point win over Shannon Rovers. In a close game throughout, it was level at half-time. In the second half Ballinahinch took two goal opportunities to lead by six, but Shannon Rovers responded with a goal of their own shortly afterwards and only needing the draw to qualify for the final they scored an equalising point with only a few minutes remaining. In the final minute however John Ryan stepped up with a long range point to put us ahead, a few more nervy moments passed before the final whistle blew. Well done to all involved and we now play Newport in the final in a few weeks time.

Minor: Newport Gaels lost out to Ballina in the North ‘A’ football Final 3-09 to 2-09. Hard luck to the players and all involved with the team. They still remain in contention for the hurling, with a semi-final to look forward to.

Tickets: Due to the huge demand for tickets to the All-Ireland, members will be given first preference on the tickets available.

Lotto: There was no winner of last week’s (21st Aug) jackpot of €6,350. The numbers drawn were 5, 11, 20, 25.

Cycle: Best of luck to Martin Ryan who is cycling from Ballinahinch to Dublin on Sat 6thSeptember in aid of Milford Hospice. Joe Fitzgerald, Eoin Kelly, Shane Fitzgerald and Barry Crosse will be helping him complete this challenge.
