Gallagher Tournament: Thanks to everyone who turned out to participate in our annual hurling tournament, in memory of our late P.P., Fr. Gallagher. This is only the second year of this tournament & once again, it has proven to be a great day. Thanks to everyone who helped in making this day a great success. Thanks to Cormac for all the organising of the games & thanks to Therese & Co. for organising all the food. thanks also to Fr. Bobby for looking after all the U-8's & keeping them all entertained with a selection of fun games. The final saw Shaun Balfrey's team against Kieran Ryan's team, with Shaun's team winning out in the end. The Fr. Gallagher Cup was presented to the winning team by Fr. Bobby & everyone enjoyed the BBQ afterwards. Bag-Packing: Our annual bag packing juvenile fundraiser is taking place this coming weekend Fri 29th. & Sat 30th. We have a lot of juveniles in the club & if even one parent of each juvenile gave just one or two hours of their time this weekend, it would be a huge help to our efforts. Please try & lend a hand. Contact Anthony, Philip or Declan or any member of the juvenile committee if you would like to help out. Trip to Bray & Croke Park: The Club is considering a trip to Bray, to play Bray Emmetts in a challenge match on the 14th. August. This is the weekend of the All-Ireland Hurling semi-final & we could take the group into Croke Park to see Tipperary play Dublin. We hope to take two groups, U-8's & U-12's. We need to find out the level of interest their may be in such a trip. We would ask parents to contact Steve Hayde or Anthony Carolan as soon as possible to let us know if you are interested. Athletics: Congratulations to Tom & Emma Hennessy on their relay achievements last weekend. Both Tom & Emma were on County relay teams which competed so well in Tullamore in the All-Ireland Inter county relay events last weekend. Emma ran with the 4x100m relay team & Tom ran with the 4x100m & the 4x400m relay teams. Well done to both of you. Junior: Hard luck to the junior hurlers who were defeated by Borrisokane in the first round of the championship last Sunday. Intermediate: We play Ballina this Saturday at 3pm in Dolla in our last group game. Both teams have qualified for the North semi-final and this game will decide our final position in the group.
