U21 Hurling: Congratulations to the U21 team who won the County 'C' hurling final last Saturday in Cashel. All the players put in a great performance throughout to beat Carrick Davins on a score of 5-23 to 2-10, and captain Cormac McGrath accepted the trophy on behalf of the team after the game. This team had won the U21 football title earlier in 2011, and great credit is due to all the players and selectors involved with this team. See Match Report for more details. Minor: Newport Gaels lost the North Minor 'B' football semi-final last week 1-09 to 4-07. Kildangan proved too strong for the team on the night. Hard luck to all involved with the team. Fixtures: We play the first round of the North Intermediate football championship Thursday evening against Ballina in Newport. The second round of the North Junior 'C' hurling championship takes place this weekend against Kilruane, a win is needed to put us back in contention for a semi-final spot.
