Intermediate: Hard luck to the intermediate hurlers who got off to a losing start in the North championship last Saturday in Dolla. Newport won the game on a score of 2-17 to 2-09. See match report for details. The next game is against Silvermines on June Bank holiday weekend.

Junior: We play Knockshegowna in our third game of the league campaign this Saturday in Shallee. Check fixtures for confirmation.

Minor: Newport Gaels qualified for the North 'B' football semi-finals with a victory over Kildangan last week. The final score was 2-08 to 1-08. The semi-finals will take place after the Leaving Cert exams.

U-12 Football:  Well done to all our U-12 Boys and Girls who played so well in the Premier 12's football games this year. You have all made major progress again this year and have proven that Ballinahinch are very difficult to beat. You have shown great determination this year and great team spirit and we are all looking forward to next year's games already. Ballinahinch would like to congratulate and to thank the North Board on the work done on the U-12 games this year. Our Premier 12's have proven to be a well-thought out alternative to the championship. A lot of work went into devising and setting up these new games. Thank you all on a job well done.

U-14 Camogie: Our U-14 Newport/Ballinahinch team narrowly missed out on a place in the Co. Final, when they were beaten by a single point by Kilruane in the Co. Semi-final in the Ragg last week. Well done to all the Ballinahinch and Newport ladies who were part of this team.

North Munster School Athletics: Congratulations to Emma and Tom Hennessy in the recent North Munster Schools events. Emma won the bronze in the minor girl's long jump and also claimed the gold medal in the 80m hurdles. Tom won the bronze in the Intermediate Boys 400m. He also won gold in the high jump and silver in the under 16 mile. Well done also to Patrick and Conor Lynch who competed in the Senior and Intermediate Boys 100m and 200m respectively.

County Community Games (Swimming): Congratulations and well done to everyone who competed in the County Comm. Games in Clonmel recently. Leah Healy, Isabella Ryan, Blathnaid Ryan, Adam Ryan, Karl Kelly, Joey Kelly, Brendan Quinn and Cathail Ryan. Blathnaid won the silver medal in the U-8 free style. Brendan Quinn and Joey Kelly won silver and bronze respectively in the U-10 Breast Stroke. Well done also to the boys U-13 relay team who won bronze in the relay. This team included Cathail Ryan, Joey Kelly, Adam Ryan, Brendan Quinn and Karl Kelly.

All-Ireland U-16 Camogie: Congratulations to Shauna Curtin on her all-Ireland success with the Tipp. Co. U-16 Camogie team. This was a fantastic achievement Shauna. Congratulations from everyone in Ballinahinch GAA. Club.

Best Wishes: Best of luck to Ailish Kennedy in her upcoming All-Ireland Arts competition in Athlone. Ailish was recently crowned County champion in her U-10 Art. Ailish has a special talent for art and we wish her the best of luck in the All-Irelands.

Marathon Runners: A huge congratulations goes to three Ballinahinch people on their tremendous achievement on completing the recent Limerick marathon run. Terese Ryan, Josie Curtin and Sean Ryan all achieved their lifetime ambition of competing in and completing a marathon. What made this achievement even more special was that each of them only donned the running shoes about 12 months ago to join Fr. Bobby's keeper Walking Group. They progressed to a running group after a few weeks and after completing the 10k run in Newport last year, set their sights on completing a marathon. This hope was realised a couple of weeks ago and well done to Terese, Josie and Sean. Where to now? I hear there is a really tough run abroad next year.

Ballinahinch Comm. Games: Take place this Sun 22nd May in GAA pitch in Shallee. Registration takes place from 3pm to 3.30pm. Everybody welcome.

Lotto: There was no winner of the draw on 9th May with a lotto jackpot of EUR3,650. The numbers drawn were 3, 24, 25, 27. Full details of lucky dip winners are available on the club website.

First Goal Competition: The club is running a first goal competition for the Tipperary v Cork MSHC game on May 29th in Semple Stadium. Everyone who buys a ticket gets a time and if that time matches the time of the first goal in the game then that person is the winner of EUR300. Tickets are EUR2 each and are on sale now from players and committee members.

Exams: Best of luck to all our members who will sit exams in the next few weeks.
