Munster U-16: North Tipperary U-16 Hurlers travel to Knocklong for the group stage of the Munster U16 Hurling championship. It is going to be a tough day for the side as they face stiff opposition from South/East Limerick, Seandún (Cork) and West Waterford in opposition. It is two years since North Tipp last won the title. Last year, they reached the semi final with wins over Limerick City/West, Mid Clare and North Kerry before losing to Mid Tipp 1-11 to 2-6 in the semi final. Mid Tipp went on to win the final against Avondhu.
The experience of that semi final game plus the recent win in the Garda Cup should give the experience to produce more good shows
Next Saturday's programme see North Tipp take on South/East Limerick, throw in at 11am. In round 2, North Tipp play Seandun at 12.30pm and face West Waterford in round three at 2pm. The team that tops the group are in to the semi final the following Monday in Mallow.
Group 1 involves Mid Tipp, East Clare, East Waterford and Imokilly. Group 2 involves West Tipp, Mid Clare, Avondhu and City/West Limerick.
Rules re: A Competition:
1. All games 20 minutes aside 2. Top two teams in Group 1 qualify for finals 3. Top team only in Groups 2 & 3 qualify for finals 4. In the event of two teams finishing on top scoring difference will  decide.

Commiserations to runners up, Borrisokane. See match report.

U16 'A' Football: Much has happened in the light of walkovers and pulling out of the championships in the North U16 'A' Football championship through the past week . Inane Rovers (pulling out of the U-16 and U-14 football championships) gave the points to Kilruane MacDonaghs in the pairs outstanding round 2 game. Kilruane then were to play Burgess in a play-off with the winners up against Nenagh Éire Óg in the semi final last Monday. However, MacDonaghs gave a walk over.
So Burgess faced Nenagh Éire Óg in the semi final with Nenagh winning 3-10 to 1-6. Holders Ballina defeated Newport/Ballinahinch 3-4 to 1-11 in the other semi final.
The final between Ballina and Nenagh Éire Óg is a repeat of last years decider. It promises to be a good game. It will be played next Monday if North Tipperary Under 16s fail to reach the Munster semi finals at Mallow.

  U14 'A' Football:
  Round 4 - Newport/Ballinahinch 1-11 Kildangan 1-4; Nenagh Éire Óg bt Borris-Ileigh. The league table after four rounds reads Nenagh Éire Óg 6; Newport/B.hinch 6; Kilruane 2; Kildangan 2; Borris-Ileigh 0.
The fifth and final round has Kilruane playing Borris-Ileigh and Nenagh Eire Og against Newport/ Ballinahinch. Kildangan have their games complete.

U-14 'B' Football Group 1: Borrisokane continue their unbeaten run with a big round four win over Newport/Ballinahinch at Newport last Wednesday. Portroe received a walkover from Inane Rovers. Meanwhile Ballina had an easy win over Moneygall.
The league table after four rounds now reads: Borrisokane 8; Portroe 6; Ballina 4; Inane Rovers 4; Moneygall 0; Newport/Bhinch 0
One round of games remain where Portroe play Borrisokane and Ballina take on Newport/Ballinahinch. Both Portroe and Ballina have it all to play for.
  Group 2
In round 4 Burgess emerged as table toppers when they defeated Shannon Rovers Gaels and Burgess remain unbeaten after last Wednesday's games.
  Results - Lorrha 3-2 Templederry 2-3; Silvermines 2-6 Toomevara 1-6; Burgess 2-7 Shannon Rovers Gaels 0-5.
Table: Burgess 8; Shannon Rovers Gaels 6; Silvermines 4; Toomevara 2; Templederry 2; Lorrha 2
Three teams remain in contention for the knockout stages. Silvermines are one of them and they will need to defeat Burgess in Round 5 to stay in touch and at the same time hope that Shannon Rovers Gaels will come unstuck against Lorrha in order to  create a play-off.

  Premier 12s Football Round 4
One result Portroe 5-6 Borris-Ileigh 2-2 No other results to hand at time of writing. Club PROs please take note.
  Group 3 Correction:
There are semi finals in Group 3 and not a straight final as mentioned in last week's column. As a result, Shannon Rovers Gaels face and Ballinahinch and Burgess take on Lorrha. All Round 5 games will be played next Friday. See fixtures
