North Tipperary - Garda Cup U/16 Hurling Champions

Garda Cup U/16 Hurling: The game between the Mid and North proved to be a cracker. Right from the off both teams played with such intensity that had spectators glued to the action and there was never only the slimmest of margins separating the sides. It was the North who rattled the net on two occasions in quick succession At the interval the North held the advantage on a score line of 3-6 to 1-11. On the resumption it was a repeat of the first half performance from both contestants with scores being traded consistently to leave the proceedings all square on a score of North 4-12 Mid 2-18.
In the first two minutes of extra time the North found the net once again and also added two points to their tally while their Mid opponents added two points to leave the interval score reading 5-14 to 2-20. At the restart the North added two points without reply to clinch their right to contest the final on a score line of 5-16 to 2-20.

The West v South contested the second semifinal. This game produced two goals and two disallowed one all in relation to the west who enjoyed the upper hand. At the final whistle the west gained a spot in the final on a score of West 2-7 South 0-8. In the cup final it was to be a miserable experience for the West who found themselves in a different league. The North held complete control in all areas of the pitch which resulted with a demolition of their opponents. At the final whistle the North were champions on a score of North 3-15 West 0-4.

At the presentation chairman Sean Creamer welcomed Garda Jimmy Burke who presented the trophy to the winning captain Killian Gleeson. Sean Creamer thanked the Holycross/Ballycahill club for providing their facilities and also for the refreshments which were truly appreciated. He acknowledged the referees Michael Duffy, John Butler, Kieran Delaney and Michael Hassett.
