All-Ireland: Hard luck to David Gleeson and the Tipperary minor team on their loss to Galway last Sunday. Davy and the team put in a big effort throughout the year, winning a Munster title and just falling short of the All-Ireland final. Minor: Newport Gaels are due to play the North hurling ‘A’ semi-final next Wednesday (9th Sept) in Dolla against Toomevara at 6pm. Best of luck to all involved. U16: Hard luck to Newport Gaels who lost out to Borrisokane 3-12 to 3-10 in the North ‘B’ hurling semi-final last week. A great effort was put in by all involved during the year. U13 Plate: Newport Gaels play Toomevara in the Plate hurling competition this Saturday at 5pm in Toomevara. Juvenile: The U6s have a match against Burgess on Tuesday (8th Sept) might put that in. Training still continues until further notice every Wednesday at 6.30 for U6s to U10s. Trivia: David Gleeson was the third player from Ballinahinch to be involved with Tipperary in an All-Ireland minor final. His brother Dermot Gleeson was involved when Tipperary lost to Galway in 1999. In 1962 Martin O’Brien was involved when Tipperary lost to Kilkenny. Davy joins Ballinahinch players Ger Griffin (‘01), Dermot Gleeson (‘97 +’99), Jimmy Ryan (’73) and Martin O’Brien (’62) in winning a Munster minor title.
