Club Notes 12th Jan 2015

Club AGM:  The AGM was held in Ballinahinch Community Centre on Friday Jan 9th at 8.00pm. Attendees heard very detailed accounts of the clubs affairs from Secretary John Ryan (B) & Treasurer Mike Gleeson & Chairman Sean Ryan (B) gave  his chairman’s address outlining the highs & lows of 2014 for the club. The following officers & management teams were ratified at the meeting for 2015: Club Presidents – Fr.Bobby Fletcher PP, Mick Hourigan, Jimmy Ryan (R), Denis Kennedy, Dan Gleeson, Michael Berkery, Dermot Bourke. Jimmy Healy has now joined our list of presidents after being elected at AGM. Chairman – Sean Ryan(B); Secretary – Joe Fitzgerald; Treasurer – Mike Gleeson; Vice-Chairman – John Healy; PRO – Raphael Ryan; Asst-Secretary – John Ryan (B); Asst Treasurer – Eamonn Finn; Ticket Co-Ordinator – John Ryan (B); Lotto Co-Ordinator – Maura Foley & Cathal Bourke; Registrar – Joe Fitzgerald; Co.Board Draw Co-Ordinator – TJ McLaughlin; Co.Board Rep – PJ Lynch. The club would like to thank John Ryan (B), Mike Gleeson, Brendan Ryan & Paidi Berkery who have stepped down from there respective roles. John & Mike are both continuing in other roles within the club. Also we would like to wish Joe Fitzgerald & Cathal Bourke all the best in there new roles and congratulations to Jimmy Healy on becoming president for all his work for the club which goes on without recognition or fuss.

 

Management Teams: Intermediate Hurling – Trainer / Manager -  Mike Sheehy (Ballina) . Mike will be assisted by his selectors Noel Kearns  & Brendan Healy. U-21 hurling – Cormac McGrath. Management & selectors for Junior hurling, Minor hurling, Junior football, minor football & U-21 football will be appointed at a later date.

We wish all our management teams every success for 2015. Hurling training is due to commence in early February which will be preceded by a players meeting which will be in the next 2 weeks. It was noted also that the North U-21 football championship is due to commence shortly so there is some urgency to appoint selectors for this team.

 

Club Committee: Our new club committee for 2015 were also ratified at our AGM. We welcome Ger Reilly as a new member of our committee for this year and also John Healy who as vice-chairman will be added to committee also. To PJ Ryan (B) and James Younge who stepped down from our committee we thank them for there time. Our new committee will meet in the next week approx. Members will receive notification on date, time & venue from club secretary.

 

Tipp Co. Board draw: Following discussion at AGM we are urging all members to return monies due for this year’s draw to there respective promoters ASAP. For the 2015 / 2016 draw it was decided that intending members must have at least €50.00 paid by end of June to ensure there continued inclusion in the monthly draws after that date.

 

Match Tickets: We also had a discussion on inter county match tickets at our AGM. It was decided that those who booked tickets through the club in 2014 but then cancelled them will not be considered when tickets are allocated for inter county games in 2015.

 

Membership: Membership for 2015 can now be paid to club Registrar or Treasurer. Membership rates remain the same for 2015 at € 40.00 for adult & € 20.00 for students. We invite new members to join the club for 2015 and particularly for our player base it is vital to have membership up to date. We will be having our annual draw for a prize of €100.00 in early April for those who pay there membership by March 31st

 

Handball: On Sunday 11 January we hosted the juvenile North ‘A’ finals. A big crowd on the day where there was games from U10 singles and doubles to U17 singles and doubles with some grades played the Friday evening in Nenagh. We came away with 3 titles in U10 doubles (Cathal Lenihan/ Mike Carroll), U11 doubles (Jack & Malachy Mullaney) and U15 doubles (Brendan Coffey/Colm Harrington). We wish them the best in the county finals in Cashel next weekend

 

Lotto: Our club lotto continues each week. Numbers drawn last week ( Thurs Jan 8th ) were 3, 7, 13, 23. As there was no winner our jackpot now stands at € 8,450 and this week’s draw will be held in Ryan’s Bar, Killoscully on Thursday Jan 15th.

 

Progressive 45 Drive: Continues every Thursday night in Ballinahinch Community Centre under the watchful eyes of Dermot & John Joe Bourke.

 

New Years Day Football Match: To take you back nearly 3 weeks now it would be remiss of us not to mention the names of the brave souls to togged out for our charity over 35 football match with Newport. For some it may be have been there last time to wear the club colours and for others it was there first time & most likely last. We lined out as follows: Joe Fitzgerald, Billy Lynch, Brendan Healy, Linda Carroll, Sean Ryan (Borris), Philip Kelly, Chris Lind, Brendan Kennedy, Barry Crosse, Eoin Kelly, Mike Murphy (Toome), Cathal Bourke,  Murty Ryan, Eamonn Finn, Pat Crowe. Subs Mike Keane, Liam McGrath, Therese Ryan-Cahill, Aoife Hayde. In the end we raised €825.00 for Newport Day Care Centre which will be presented in the near future.

 

Best Wishes: The club would like to offer it’s congrats & best wishes to Martin Clifford, Shallee and his new Fiancé Carol who got engaged recently. Martin is bringing a West Cork woman to our parish and she is very welcome.

 

Sympathies: The club wishes to extend its sympathies to the family and friends of Tommy Dillon and Josie Garrigan (nee Kennedy) who passed away recently. May they rest in peace.
